Dr. Melissa Wdowik
Faculty, Semester at Sea

I am a nutrition expert, foodie, educator, writer, public speaker, mom, wife, teacher and traveler with an innate wanderlust and appetite for life. My day job is faculty member in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Colorado State University, where I have taught since 2006.  It is my love of teaching that brings me to Semester at Sea, my new college campus on a ship.

My other day job is Director of the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center, which I founded in 2008. There, I use my experience as a registered dietitian to provide coaching and classes to the public while also training and mentoring students. I am passionate about helping others understand the role of nutrition in health and disease prevention as well as the complicated issues of culture, society, and food for the world's growing population.

Outside of these, my interests in food and nutrition lead me to writing and traveling. I have traveled extensively throughout the world and am a strong supporter of international learning for its gifts of perspective and intellectual growth.

In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds, yoga, reading, cooking, my family, and my dogs.
